The Supreme Court's landmark ruling Wednesday criminalising sex with wife below 18 has cleared an inconsistency in laws that differed over the legal age of sexual consent. Former Union minister Chinmayanand, accused of raping a year-old law student, was arrested from his residence in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district on Friday. ET has accessed the court orders by which bail was rejected on September 30 for both Chinmayanand and the girl in the respective cases lodged against them. Chinmayanand, who was arrested on Friday and and sent to 14 days' judicial custody, was shifted admitted on Monday to a Lucknow hospital, where he was tested for cardiac problems.
